Finishing up

Finishing is like breathing after a long day of work.

When the form is assembled, it is time for the return of softness, light, and intonation.

I take the grinding wheels, soft brushes, rags and start working with the surface.

This process can last for hours, days, until the bronze begins to respond with light.

Every touch is a refinement.

I'm studying how the lines reflect the space where the bronze should be lighter, where it should be darker.

Sometimes a slight scratch creates the desired effect — the work becomes more lively, the breathing is more noticeable.

Then - patination.

Chemistry comes into play: fire, acids, water.

The surface is colored, the depth of tone, shadow, and character are born.

The color can be cold, graphite, green, blue — each job requires its own condition.

I love the moment when the bronze starts to "sound" at hand.

It becomes warm, as if it returns energy.

At this point, the work is completed, but not yet put on a pedestal.

The last thing left is to connect it to the space through the baseboard.

The final processing is the moment when the form begins to breathe light.
